Green card Lottery winner selection.
The American Government's Green card lottery program is conducted through a computer based program where it will get all the greencard lottery applicant's electronic entries in the online application period of 60 days from all over the world.
When the application submission period is over, Green card lottery winner selection will take place at the KCC.
Computers at the KCC will randomly select the winner's names from the submitted online E-DV entries. There 50,000 visas available under this program each year and as all the selected applicants may not have the required educational qualification or required work experience nearly 100,000 people will be selected as winners. Then each of them will be given a case number 1 for the first selected person and number 2 will be given to the second person and like this giving number will continue till they have selected enough winners. Also they will be given the fiscal year of the program and the geographical region of their birth country in their case numbers.. Thus a lucky African winner will have a typical case number like this 2012AF000123 in the year 2012 program according to his selection.
The green card visa lottery program is designed to issue the required visas in the first come first serve basis. So the one with the low case number selection have more chances to secure an Immigrant visa which can be converted in to a green card once he/she reaches USA. Those people with higer case numbers some time don't have chance to get the second letter as the visas got exhausted or the closing of the program on 30th September..
