If possible make a print out of it. Or write it in a paper and keep it in a safe place. This number will help you to find out whether you are selected for the program or not in the online web site in the coming year. If you miss one letter or number it will not be useful as the result check web site will not accept it.

If you apply through any agents don't forget to get the green card confirmation number then and there once your entry is accepted for the green card lottery.

If you had lost this confirmation number it won't be reissued. So don't look for it or don't try to contact the authorities to reissue the confirmation number.

If you have the confirmation number or not, if you are a winner in the green card lottery the winning notification will be sent to your home by normal postal mail.
